Reflecting on Peace Corps Week 2025: A Celebration of Service

Recapping Peace Corps Week 2025

From February 24 to March 1, the Peace Corps Prep Program and the Paul D. Coverdell Fellowship Program hosted Peace Corps Week 2025, an inspiring celebration of international service and community engagement. This week featured events designed to inform, connect, and inspire students, alumni, and prospective volunteers. Below is a list of events that were hosted.

College of Education Mixer

Education is the largest volunteer sector in the Peace Corps, and this session showcased how an Education degree provides a strong foundation for service. Attendees learned about the Peace Corps Prep and the Global Education Minor, both of which prepare students to work with linguistically and culturally diverse communities.

Peace Corps Fair

The Peace Corps Fair is our biggest annual event! It offered a unique opportunity to connect with returned volunteers who shared their personal experiences from service around the world. Attendees engaged with partner organizations to explore additional service opportunities, gaining insights into the challenges and rewards of international volunteering.

Service Project with Iskashitaa Refugee Network

In a meaningful collaboration, Peace Corps Prep, the Peace Corps Club, Coverdell Fellows, and the Desert Doves partnered with the Iskashitaa Refugee Network to harvest citrus fruit around Tucson. This service project not only fostered teamwork but also supported the local refugee community.

Desert Doves Family Picnic

To close out Peace Corps Week, returned volunteers and community members gathered for a family friendly picnic at Himmel Park. This potluck style event celebrated the Peace Corps birthday, providing an opportunity for alumni, current students, and prospective volunteers to build connections in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Peace Corps Week 2025 brought together individuals with a shared passion for service and global engagement. As we reflect on the week’s events, we look forward to continuing these conversations and fostering connections that lead to meaningful impact worldwide.
